Ladies, don’t you have wierd times where you feel like you can’t control your emotions and you get mood swings? You pull off a tantrum and then you feel guilty towards people affected by your actions.
Sometimes, the explanation to this is scientific. Remember this: “I love you from the bottom of my hypothalamus!”
Because emotions don’t come from the heart, technically – it’s our hypothalamus that sends signals to our brain. And what for the mood swings? It’s all about hormonal imbalance. There are a few people who go through quarter life crisis, some are even clinically depressed, others bipolar. It’s all realated to our health!
Drugs can help mediate this symptom. I’m not a doctor by the way, but I learned this from school and further research. Bottom line is, I always believe that who you are is what you eat! Eat healthy, get better emotions. Less tantrum, less bad times :p

Hormone imbalance. It hardly makes sense to the younger gen yet everyone goes through it everyday.

In this time and age where one’s health is often at risk because of unhealthy lifestyle practices, these disorders may signal a more serious health condition.

Produced by the ovaries, these hormones must work together to develop female sex characteristics and promote fertility. They must be in perfect balance because any change in that could have poor effects on a woman’s health. Too much estrogen in the body for instance, might bring about different reactions like mood swings and tenderness of breast especially during the premenstrual period.
What causes it. The primary cause is an unhealthy lifestyle – – poor diet, lack of exercise, obesity, frequent and excessive drinking and smoking. Stress also contributes to the lowering of progesterone level in the body. Progesterone produces anti-stress hormones but constant stress might exhaust the body, leading to the decrease in production of progesterone hormones in the body. Exposure to chemicals like petrochemicals found in some cosmetics – and industrial chemicals present in plastic materials that we use, and some vegetables that have been exposed to pesticides also cause hormonal imbalance.
Implications of hormonal imbalance. Hormones act as messengers in the body in order for the cells, tissues, and organs to work properly. The release of hormone depends on the release of another hormone produced in the body. It’s important that underproduction and overproduction of hormones must not take place. A slight interruption on the pancreas’ production of insulin could lead to complications in the heart. Or it could cause the body’s glucose level to rise. Common health problems resulting from hormonal imbalance are high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, infertility and cancer.
Balancing the hormones. Engaging in physical activities like swimming, running and avoiding stressful situations help restore hormonal balance. Another way is to go organic especially on cosmetics and food.
I usually eat heavy breakfast and light lunch. For lunch, especially when I’m just at home, wheatgrass and oatmeal 😛
