Look Into Tickets Early

Another guide on making the most of the Singpaore Grand Prix spent a lot of time talking about tickets, and we’d direct you back to that guide for reference. The idea, generally, is to book as early as possible (ideally when tickets go on sale in April). This is in part because the event will sell out, but also because you can get some good deals buying early as opposed to waiting until the last minute, or going through secondary markets. Additionally you’ll want to take some time researching the different kinds of tickets you can buy, some of which offer more access throughout the event than others.

Plan On Long Days & Nights

Attending the Singapore Grand Prix is unlike many other sporting events in that it can really take up a full day and night. You’ll want to get to the course as early as possible so as to stake out a good vantage point (within the area you have access to with your tickets of course). Then there’s the actual race. On top of that, however, there is also something of a festival that surrounds the circuit, such that it’s always worth sticking around after the race. At the very least you’ll be able to attend a concert, likely with a fairly major act or two on stage.

Research The Previous Year’s Action

One thing fans don’t always realize until they attend a race is that each grand prix really is its own competition. The drivers are ultimately competing for year-end honors, but there’s value in winning or establishing a streak at a given venue as well – which means it’s always fun to brush up on your history of a grand prix you attend. Taking the Singapore Grand Prix for instance, it’s nice to know that Sebastian Vettel, who’s still competing near the top of the standings, holds the record with four wins at the Marina Bay Circuit. In fact, one write-up last year called him the rightful favorite from a purely historical, technical and skillful level, despite the fact that Lewis Hamilton is always the likely winner these days. This is all fun stuff to know come race day.

Purchase Camera Equipment

This is only necessary if you’re intending to capture good pictures of the action. However, if that’s something you’d like to do, you really will need the right equipment. A standard smartphone camera just isn’t going to get great looks at F1 cars whizzing by at high speed – particularly in the setting of an evening race with lights overhead. We’d recommend if this is important to you doing some research on what types of lenses and shutter speeds people get the best results with at similar events, and preparing in advance.

Learn The Grounds

This may sound trivial, but having a good understanding of the expansive grounds can serve you well. You’ll be navigating in large crowds and with a lot of things going on, and it helps to know where things are and what the best ways to get around might be. You can find a circuit park map for the grand prix online, which makes it fairly easy to study and learn your way around in advance.

I have always been an obedient child and I am often told that I need to study hard so I can have a bright future. While I know that to be true as I grew up, I always embraced the other part of growing up, that is, discovering myself and watching the curtains unravel as I take over my stage.

The world is my stage, and I am the star.

Growing up, I discovered the joy of being physically active. My extra-curricular grades have always been above 95 and most of the time, it is 100 because I volunteer a lot. When I am asked what my favorite subject is, it’s always PE. I’m that kind of girl who would study hard because I need to learn, but also take time to do active sports. In my case, it was dancing. ??

I discovered my love for dance back in Grade 4 when our batch had to perform a “field demonstration.” Everyone dances. I was still tall-ish at that time (stopped growing when I had my period), and I am usually positioned at the back of the line, because everyone is always lined up according to height!

Then for some reason, I enjoyed dancing way too much that the teacher placed me in front of the line ?

Since then, I joined dance clubs and participated in Folk Dance competitions. I also joined our college department’s PEP squad!

It was a great childhood where I wasn’t in a possession of any gadget or cellphone, forcing me to interact with my classmates and always find something active to do.

Nowadays, school children have higher risk of obesity which is contributed by lack of physical activities. This brings to question the effectivity of our health & wellness and sports education and what we are doing about it.

This brings much concern that the University of the Philippines’ College of Human Kineticks (UP-CHK), in partnership with Sport Management Council of the Philippines (SportPhil), organized the upcoming first ever 3-day international academic sports event in the Philippines, the 2016 International Conference on Sport Pedagogy, Health, and Wellness (ICSPHW 2016).

P.E. Plus: Retooling Physical Education and School Sports for Inclusion, Development and Competition, will be held from November 18 to 20, 2016 at the Celebrity Sports Plaza and the UP Diliman campus in Quezon city.

The event will host a pool of lectures and trainings from distinguished sports scholars across the globe. This conference aims to highlight the important of games, play, and physical activity for the development of students, athletes and sports advocates.

This event is also supported by MILO Philippines and endorsed by the Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), and the Asian Council of Exercise and Sports Science (ACESS), among other institutions.

Inspiring change
I could relate quite well to Emmanuelle’s firm belief as stated above. Lately, I have been on a mission to become the best version of me. With the help of friends, fitness mentors, nutrition coach, doctors and the support of loved ones, I slowly am headed to becoming my best self in all aspects of my humanity. By slowly changing and transforming myself, I realized that my students, friends, readers and followers slowly notice the positive changes in me, and then I began to realize, I could in fact inspire change or make an impact in other people’s lives. I respond slowly to fitness questions via email, skin and beauty tips via social media and facebook messages and even as as far as giving advice to people who are emotionally distraught. I think one thing my readers know about me is that I am transparent in my struggles and they see the real deal. I blog about these things, but more importantly, I never fail to share that I am always trying to stand right back on my feet, dust off some negative juices and try again.

Blogging could surely take up a lot of my time. Traveling from one event to another, writing and documenting travels, hours of research and content writing too, and so on and so forth. I am not even blogging for the money, nor is this my main source of income. I blog continously so that I could send a message to everyone that they can achieve anything they want to as long as they put their heart to it.

I’m pretty sure every human being in this world would wonder how it feels to fly. To be momentarily suspended on air, your feet of the ground and you float for more than 5 seconds.

Well, like everyone else, I dreamed to fly.

When I went to Nepal last October, I browsed through the activities I could do during my stay.

Apart from seeing the tallest mountain on earth, Mt. Everest, I just had to do something for the first time – flying!

Well, paragliding to be specific.

I have told my friends who went to Nepal to try paragliding. It is really safe and one experience you will cherish.

Here are the things you need to do to make this experience come true.

– Book your flight a few days in advance. We went on October when it’s peak season and slots do fill up.

– For paragliding, a pilot will be paired to you and both of you will be strapped in for flight. So don’t worry. you don’t need to be experienced in anything to do this. all you have to do is ride.

– We booked through Himalayan Encounters and sometimes in a city you are not familiar with, it is best to have a travel agent or a tour guide.

– They have four scheduled times to fly during the day. It also depends on the weather and winds for best time to fly. Don’t worry to much about this, trust that they will tell you the best time to fly.

– We met at their office that will take us about 25 minutes uphill to the Sarangkot mountain top where you are already 1,400 meters above sea level.

– After driving, you need to hike up a little bit, this was my warm-up. There’s a point where vans can’t have access to, so off you go and walk!

– They will prepare the shoot and your seat/strap.

– I suggest you take the option with photos so you can document your flight! I mean this is a pretty expensive activity, might as well document it to last forever! They have go pro cameras that will capture your moment. You can bring your own gear too if you want, I had my DSLR strapped to my neck the entire time.

– This costs only additional $22 dollars or 1700 Nepali Rupees

– Bring sun glasses – the sun is harsh

– long sleeves and pants if you want to protect your skin from the sun. It was windy and chilly in October so it’s okay,

– and bring sunscreen!

– So once the shoot and you’re all strapped in, the pilot will be by your back and he will tell you to run towards the cliff!

– WHAT?

– Did I tell you I’m afraid of heights? Yes very much so! But I somehow found a way to overcome this. I stop thinking and just do it!

– These pilots are trained and I trust them. SO RUN I DID!!!

– I didn’t think of anything else but just running towards that cliff! i was too nervous and stunned to document this moment and did not take a video or photo of it 🙁

– and next thing I knew, i was running with my feet not touching the floor already. I was flying!!!

– hallelujah!!!

– As you enjoy the ride, take photos, enjoy the view of the himalayas 🙂 Enjoy flying atop Pokhara Lake, but don’t wonder about where you’re gonna eat later because if you have a not-so-adventurous stomach, you would feel like vomiting mid way. AND I DID!

– Apparently, this is normal, so the pilot just asked me to tilt to my left and be free to barf. yes.

Here are the signs when the pilots can tell if someone is about to barf mid air:

1. Silence

2. Head bops more than usual

3. They curl with their tummies and clinch fist

4. They ask questions like – how long are we gonna be flying or when/where do we land?

As for me, I just told him directly – hey I need to vomit

– If you are more adventurous (or crazy lol) you can ask them to do a few tricks for you like summersault on air or do a 360 rollercoaster thing. Whatever – do whatever floats your banana boat!

– The pilots can control the height of the shoot. You can fly higher, and of course you need to fly lower if you’re ride is about to be done for landing. You will land at the space near the lake. So I’m thinking, In case I fall, I fall into water.

I’m sure you all went to the beach, the mountains, spend it with family and what not. But, I also know that a few of you, needed to work on the Holidays? Isn’t that right? I am no exception! I had a few paperworks and write-ups over the Holy Week.

But, Saturday came and I’m finally free!  So, I wanted to drive some place to surf.  According to magicseaweed.com, West Side isn’t happenin’ and East Side of the Philippines got some decent swell.  I couldn’t drive to Baler or Bagasbas coz I heard it will take quite some time… and I lack sleep because I’ve been doing a marathon for Breaking Bad.

Anyway, my next option was Real, Quezon.  A new acquaintance who I met through one of our surf trips in Liwa, told me that he goes frequently to Real.  He said it takes 2 hours. — 2 hours what??!?! I drove for 3-4 hours!  The trip was longer than I expected, it was full of zigzags.  I had to drive at night on our way back home – dark, no street lights.  But I found it quite relaxing, I drove windows down, with music on full blast!

It’s a 6’10” but it’s not really your typical short board.  It’s short, but you can ride it like a long board and pick-up waves at will.    It works for both big and small riders.  It’s manoeverable and easy to paddle

Real Quezon Surf Spot review

• Waves – decent and clean, consistent (for a msw forecast of 2-4 ft.)
• Crowd – for Holy Week season – not crowded at all (line-up at least, but there were a lot of other people swimming, camping
• Facilities – Could be improved, outdoor showers weren’t working, too few toilets
• Activities – Surfing, river rafting, camping and other beach sports
• The drive – smooth roads from Ortigas Ave ext., 2-laned, but really dangerous because of a lot of zigzags and curves so you have to be careful.  I was averaging 40 kmph to  60 kmph on the curves and was only running at 80 kmph because of tricycles, and it was pretty dark at night
• Travel time: 3 – 4 hours
• Restaurants and dining areas: this I didn’t have any chance to explore.  They have a store that might prepare pancit canton and other stuff for you but as for real restaurant, haven’t chanced seeing any in this area.  So I guess it’s best to say, bring baon if you need to.  I didn’t need any because I went on an afternoon trip
• Accommodations: I did a day trip so I never got to experience this.  They do offer overnight stays at affordable rates.

There was a time when I would surf every week for 3 months.  All my savings went to surf trips.  It was a whole lot of fun… I WAS BROKE haha!  I do sound like a legit addict.  I got busy though and I had to forego surfing to earn real bucks travel and stuff.

The sea has been calling me lately.  I do think that I’m a mermaid or a gypsy in my past life.  I just love to travel and I love the ocean especially.

You know what, I just realized that I don’t have to spend so much on surfing anymore.  I can just drive 3 hours to Zambales, stay at a cheap hostel that fits my budget and worry about nothing else – just fun, surf, swim oh and a whole lot of art and friends!

Oh thank heavens for The Circle Hostel.

It’s not your ordinary accommodation.  Here, you don’t get a fancy room with A/C, TV, fridge and all the fancy things a regular hotel room offers.  Nope none of that.  But let me tell you something, it was an experience that surely brought out the best in me.

 It’s not your usual hotel accommodation, but it definitely has its charm!  It is ranked high on TripAdvisor as well!

Typical budget for overnight (including gas or bus fare, accom, food, etc) – P1,000!

This was my bunk bed. It was surprisingly comfortable!

I often sleep alone at my solo apartment – it was quite lovely to share this huge cabana with friends and new acquaintances!

If you’re iffy about your belongings, they have a locker for you 🙂

An alternative to the luxury you get from a regular hotel accommodation is nature, art, fresh air and new friends.  On our stay at the Circle Hostel, I didn’t even get to use my gadgets!  Poor iPad – I never touched it at all.  It’s a shame how we have so much to enjoy in this world – and they’re free.

– The air that we breath

– The sea that gives us a good ride

– Creativity through art and painting

– Good food

– and awareness of our body through Yoga and meditation

It’s also amazing how you can create a game out of throwing a plastic disk – Ultimate Frisbee time!  My glutes were activated so badly, they were swollen the next day – good work out! I should do this more often!

I brought my hoop to take a few videos of me hooping by the beach – just for vanity’s sake really.

I can share with you my experience about this place all I want but bottom line is, you need to experience it for yourself 🙂  Spread and share the love!

I went back to my hometown in Bacolod and chanced upon passing by our owld Bowling center.  It was empty!  I felt sad because bowling is just so much fun!  It’s a social sport.  You bowl and hang out with your friends over a few food and drinks.  Best part is, it is healthy!

I miss those days.

They’re the first girl band I went crazy with and until now, I still am!  I think, without them, I wouldn’t be this “FLAIR” candy you know now. Seriously!  They inspired me that whole “Girl Power” thing and went well for me all the way!

The London Olympics featured almost all modes of transportation in their closing  ceremony.  One Direction used a huge truck. 

Spice Girls used TAXI cabs! Glittered taxi cabs!

and they were WOW!  I got the Goosebumps all over watching them again, reunited!  I really wish to watch their concert, it has been my dream.  And they were so close to performing in Hong Kong which I would have flown for just to see them.
