AirAsia Philippines’ first flight to Kuala Lumpur!

We boarded Flight PQ 7455 at 3:15pm and arrived minutes earlier than the scheduled 7:00pm arrival.

This new daily route complements Malaysia AirAsia’s existing Kuala Lumpur –  Clark – Kuala Lumpur morning flights which have been in operation since 2005.

We had free passes and drinks courtesy of Nuffnang and one of their sponsor Heineken.

We were all honestly tired after the 12-hour trip and the NAPBAS ceremony proper.  But, we all decided we will only be together in Malaysia just for 3 days and if we let this moment pass by, it will definitely be gone!

And so we went to party!  We rode the Nuffnang bus and traveled to KL – Zouk!  It was another 30 minute ride at 12 midnight!  I took a nap at the bus to recharge.

Most of us wore heels and oh the achy achy feet!  Good thing we had a VIP room!

While waiting for the bus, some snacked on some Malaysian street food! Yum!  I was too tired to walk at that time.. But oh well, here’s to the fun memories!

Finally a familiar sign – that means we’re finally in Malaysia!

So near, yet so far… me and Jane inside the bus to our Hotel in Malaysia.

I was also glad to be travling with online / offline friends Nikki and Angela!

I spent most of the traveling time sleeping.. bus, plane, bus 🙂

I always love going to Malaysia and this time we stayed at the Marriott Putrajaya hotel = <3

It’s a bit far away from the City Central but we got really good rooms and great accommodations!

Jane is my roomie!

The Grand Ballroom that night was packed by bloggers in the Asia Pacific region and us from the Philippines are here to reprhuuzent!!!

We were sailing aboard the SuperStar Virgo overnight from Singapore and docked early morning at Port Klang, Malaysia.  It was a very nice experience.  I slept, when we were in Singapore – and when I woke up, this was my view 🙂

This was our view of the port while we were enjoying a festive breakfast buffet at the Mediterranean restaurant.  I swear, food never ran out and I gained like 3 pounds over the trip – but I don’t care!

Food is part of the trip and I choose to enjoy it!

Port Klang looked gloomy as it rained early in the morning.  I was happy that it did.  I remembered the first time I went to malaysia and it was so hot! Hotter than in the Philippines.  The rain, regulated the temperature a bit.

I remembered having a sore throat and that bothered my sleep in the cabin.  I only felt relieved when I drank Jas’ Pei Pa Koi – a chinese all-around cough medicine.  That was already 4am so I barely had any sleep and so I slept through the entire trip from Klang to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

When I woke up, I was greeted with bright colors evoking words like “Good morning Hannah”

I love colors!  We went down and toured around the temple.

It was one big temple.  We had to climb a flight of stairs up the tower.  That definitely woke me up.

There were a lot of people, and I even noticed a couple getting wed.  The tour guide then explained that the Thean Hou temple offers fortune telling and marriage registration services.  She was like “If you have your boyfriend or girlfriend with you, you can already get married right here right now.” 😛

We went inside the alter and saw people praying and meditating.

The temple was so big, but if you look at the details, you will see that it is carefully crafted.

One example is their ceiling.  I know nothing about architecture, but it looked like they sure put a lot of work on this one.

In addition to the altar in the prayer hall, there is also a smaller statue of Guan Yin to the right of the hall, set amongst rocks and falling water. Here one can kneel and receive a blessing of water from the statue. Outside the temple at the entrance to the grounds, there is a larger statue, similarly set amongst rocks and falling water.

Other features include a Chinese Medicinal Herbs Garden, a Wishing Well as well as a Tortoise Pond.

Finally there is a large statue of the goddess opposite the temple, along with a collection of other large statues that include representations of the twelve animals of Chinese astrology.

Traditional Chinese exercise and martial arts activities such as Qigong, tai-chi and wushu classes are conducted at the Thean Hou temple.

I was inspired by the details of the temple that I opened my perspective to recognize the tiny things in my environment, including this flower.

this was a really tiny flower.  But, it’s beautiful and it looks fresh.  It’s like the world i want to live in!

I went to a Chinese temple in Cebu, Philippines about over a year ago and what the fortune teller told me was “A very handsome guy will propose to you in marriage this year.”  I was like – “what?” But, I asked about my career and there he is, predicting my love life. But to make the story short, it didn’t happen guys 😛  Maybe I wasn’t concentrating enough.

Fly to Singapore and Sail on a Cruise Ship to Malaysia

This trip was part of AirPhil Express’ Fly and Sail adventour package.  We only had a day trip in Malaysia but I think it was about enough time to go around the major landmarks.  What I like about sailing is that I need not pack my bags to go to another country because I can leave my things in the ship.  No hotel transfers or whatever.

Merdeka in Malay means Independence.  Just like the Philippines, Malaysia also struggled colonization from Britain.  Manila was also under the British rule around the 1700s for only 2 years.  Resistance was strong and it prevented the British folks to spread around the archipelago.

But don’t you ever wonder how it would be if they colonized us? Think Harry Potter, Queen Elizabeth, The Spice Girls, David Beckham, Kate Middleton, Prince William, and of course and Mr. Bean😛

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Malaysia was colonized by Britain for many many years.  Hence they drive on the left hand side of the road, and they have British sounding towns / places.

Why choose between fashion and comfort when you can have both?

Merdeka Square, Dataran Merdeka or Independence Square

Sometimes they also call this place as Padang Merdeka.

I never knew that this place is so rich of history.  I was standing at the place where Malaysia waved their first flag of independence.  Across the field is the Royal Selangor Club which is a very exclusive, all men’s club

Therefore, I can’t go in 😛

Sultan Abdul Samad Building

This building is just right across Merdeka Square.  We hanged out inside the bus for a while because this area had free open internet.  Most of the pictures of this building was taken by my Blackberry Playbook.

Too bad we couldn’t go here at night because I heard that this building is also decorated by lights.

I always happen to visit Malaysia during August.  And I usually see their flags displayed everywhere.  This is to celebrate their Independence day.

Malaysia has different states and Selangor is one of them.  Kuala Lumpur is a city within Selangor.  Each states have a different flag of their own.  And of course, they have a national flag.

*If you ask me why I know so much about Malaysia, it’s because I have a lot of awesome friends there. (Shout out to all shouters!)

I was supposed to meet AlvinC a.k.a. Chewygummy at Port Klang because he’s the one who lives in Klang.  We planned to go around Klang to find some nic Bah Kut Teh.  They took me here once and he wanted me to try the dry BKT.  We couldn’t find one so we tried the ‘ol traditional soup 🙂

But we didn’t push through because our tour went to KL instead.  Don’t worry yah, I will be back.

At my quarter life (assuming I’d live till 100), I’d have to say I have a lot of check marks on my to-do list already! And I just checked another one when I finally boarded a cruise ship!

The Asian cruise is part of the Fly and Sail package of AirPhil Express for only P24,888 (all in). This included our overnight stay in Singapore with breakfast, the cruise itself (food included) and a short day tour in Malaysia.

I was afraid of getting seasick but I think that with my pole dancing, surfing and driving race karts – I am already immune with motion sickness. That didn’t excuse me from bringing medicines and thank goodness I brought them with me. It saved me from getting allergy attacks and headaches.

I was SO excited to be on a cruise ship!  I never imagined myself in one because I thought that cruise ships are only for rich people.  I didn’t know that AirPhil could make it happen – to be affordable for everyone!  You definitely get your money’s worth.

This room is good for quad sharing.  One of the furnitures inside (bottom right, can barely see it -yes that yellow thing) can turn into a bed.  It’s a mutant I tell you and I want one in my house for guests 😛

I had the best roomates – Vanny and Jas!  They had chinese herbal medicine with them which prevented the flu virus to take over my entire body.  Thanks for that Pei Pa Koi, it soothed my throat and took away my sniffles.  Remind me to bring one in the future 😛

Facilities and Entertainment

Finally! I’m going to travel again via Airphil Express and will be sailing from Singapore to Malaysia <3 My feet is definitely itching for some travel, my heart thrives for some adventure and my stomach cries for asian food! Milk teas, Bah Kut Teh and Char Kway Teo – whaddup! Come to momma!  Oh Char Siew Fan, Chilli crab, Nasi Lemak and more! I’m such a piggy!

I also have been doing something new lately and I have been trying out “lifecasting”

If you don’t know what it is – Google or Wikipedia 🙂 But seriously, it’s just me broadcasting my activities via livestream! I love technology!

I was just testing out live streaming on Justin.tv and surprisingly I get a lot of views (internationally -whaddup!?!?!) without me even advertising it. I see a really great potential in expanding my online influence and this medium is one way of doing it.

I got so tired from jet-setting.  My ears got really wonky and I got so sleepy.  So, after eating some nice char siew fan (adobo rice), I just slept.  I was awoken by the sound of my phone ringing.

It was Angeline :)  Angeline and Satkuru picked me up with Ed at our Hotel and drove us around Gurney drive before meeting the other Penangites.  It was 6pm then but there was still sunshine.  7pm, there was still sunshine.

Thanks to Chee Hsien, Willaz and Nasi Lemak restaurant for helping me identify the food.  I got poor memory and I couldn’t remember the names of every food I ate

My first nai cha (milk tea) of the day.  This was actually the milk tea I had for lunch.  I love going around Asia because they have lots of milk tea everywhere.  It always helps when I order something spicy.

I got tips from everyone I know, even Filipinos who have been to Penang, that street food in Penang is the best.

It gives Khoay Zhiap its authentic salty but soury flavor I believe

Khoay Zhiap is only found n Penang and Lasker said, they only prepare it like weekends.  Perfect timing for me

If you don’t know what soup number 5 is… it’s like sinigang or nilaga with cow testicles

I know I have eaten the weirdest things *faints*

This is the Khoay Zhiap soup not bad tasting.  You can also opt to have it with rice and I like rice better yummy loh, but not for those with high uric acid.

Char Kway Teow (CKT) My favorite noodles of all time!  Spicy is good.  It’s not the best CKT if it’s not spicy

It’s flat noodles with egg and bean sprouts.  They also put usually shrimp and other veggies.

mehhh… I forgot what this is called but according to the owner of Nasi Lemak’s resto here in the Philippines, this is Cheng Tng.  It’s just water and ice with some fruit syrup.  Lychee and beans and other sweet things are in it too

I gulped this and ate the fruits when the CKT got really spicy

You know, I’m very sensitive with spicy food.

Chicken Feet We call this “adidas” in the Philippines because it has like three lines lol

Curry Puff! It’s like empanada but it’s very big like the size of a Calzone.  They have more meat and potatoes though and really spicy.  But don’t worry, if I can take the spice, you will too YUMMY!

Food Place in Gurney Drive.  A lot of people are here.  Locals usually eat here more often than refined restaurants.

I got lychee ice which is made of real fresh lychee fruit and juice extracts.  Yummy!  I don’t know why we don’t have these here.

The green one is umbra (according to Willaz) it’s a fruit as well.  I think we have the same fruit here in the Philippines but I forgot what.

This is Kuih Kosui, Kueh Nyonya.  It’s like pandan rice thingy with coconut shreddings It’s like our own kuchinta but made into a ball

oh yes! they have their own version of Taho and this is the sweetest thing!  They call it Taufu fah

This is the Fried Popiah, kinda like Lumpia

Kaya Kuih (not sure) but it’s sticky rice.  One of the ingredients is supposedly a flower that causes the blueish color.

Ooooh! Pasembur!

It’s really spicy but it’s definitely yummy!  It’s a salad made of shredded cucumber, Chinese Turnip (hong kuak), potatpoes, bean curd (taukua), bean sprouts, prawn fritters (hae chi) and sliced boiled egg.  The spicy sauce is made out of sweet potatoes.  They know how to create and invent very good food ^_^   It’s also called Mamak Rojak or Cheh Hoo depending on which version of food this is (Indian or Chinese).
