I have heard many things about Banawe street and that many restaurants flourish on this street for your dining pleasure. It was my first time at Chef Roberts and I barely go to this area in town. The place is humbly situated aside other restaurants. We got there early at about 6pm and there were a few people already dining in. As we were enjoying our food, I noticed more and more people coming in, until they had to open up the upper floor to accommodate more guests. Indeed, this is one of the more famous restaurants people go to on this side of the street.

Caesar Salad

The Ceasar salad came with their own home made dressing with a generous amount of crispy fresh vegetables, egg slices, crispy bacon bits and bread

For the first time, I ate more veggies than Vince

Lengua ala Pobre with Casillero del Diablo

Vince and I are fond of “sauce-y” dishes the Lengua dish was perfect for our taste buds. I love garlic too and mushrooms and it was all in that one dish with creamy sauce. This is definitely a must-try if you visit this restaurant.

Blueberry Panna Cota

This was a lovely dessert I really enjoyed! Sitting atop the panna cotta gel is a very generous amount of blueberries

It’s perfect to end the meal especially with the Lengua above served with wine.

I live in Mandaluyong and I don’t frequent going to Quezon City area. This time though, it was nice discovering places that have been around for around 10 years and still serving the best dishes it has to offer.

We were greeted by the very friendly Chef of Moomba Chef Jimmy Jardiniano. He explained that during Christmas time, the restaurant is often booked with dinner affairs and event functions. It was indeed a busy holiday but a happy one indeed.

The restaurant felt cozy and comfortable, contrasting the heat of Manila. Moomba is a restaurant/bar and thus it was a bit dim inside with lights around and a stage for entertainment.

Cheesy Pizza

Our meal started off with a very cheesy pizza. Vince and I both love cheese and this dish was a winner. This cheese pizza was a complimentary dish from the Chef.

Julienne of Vegetables

To start the Manila Signature Dish set made possible by Unilever Food Solutions, we had an appetizer/salad made with different slices of vegetables topped with crab meat and sauce.

Tiyan of Ostrich

The next dish served was Tiyan of Ostrich.  This was my first time trying Ostrich meat!  I was actually very excited to dine here and try it.

The Ostrich tasted both like chicken and beef. The wine provided by Unilever was a perfect match for this.

The Ostrich meat was topped with mashed potatoes – a perfect pair

Panna Cota with Mango Canache

Lastly, we were served a very fab dessert – Panna Cota with Mango Canache.

I love creamy desserts (more than the usual chocolate cake) and I love letting the Panna Cota stay on top of my tongue and sort of melt it there. I love the creamy texture and the not-so-sweet taste.

The accent came from the Mango Canache with strawberry syrup.
