Who would’ve thought I’d meet my favorite Disney characters in person!  I am such a Disney child.  I grew up watching almost all Disney movies and even as I grow up, I still watch Disney with my little sister and little brother.  My favorite shows were Lizzy Mcguire, Phil of the Future, Adventures of Zach and Cody, Lilo and Stich the series (watched every episode), Kim Possible (watched all episodes too!), Totally Spies and Martin Mystery.  Of course I love the movies of Disney too.

My mom bought me an Alice in Wonderland Betamax tape when I was 4 years old and I swear, I watched this film a thousand times along with Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast!  I was so happy that I finally would go to another vacation – a very happy and magical one!

Flaircandy invades Disneyland!

The main reason why we went back to Hong Kong is to experience the magic of Disney!  Ever since I heard about the new Disneyland in Hong Kong 5 years ago, I was very eager to go since I haven’t been to any Disneyland before and Hong Kong is only 2 hours away from the Philippines!

Can you believe it? It has been 5 years!  This year, Hong Kong Disneyland is celebrating their 5^th year anniversary and our timing was just perfect because they made everything more special.

I’m such a big kid that I lined up with the rest of the kids to have our pictures taken with the Disney Princesses 😛  I have so much to share with you guys including some helpful tips in maximizing your Hong Kong Disneyland vacation.  I will be telling you soon about my favorite attractions in Hong Kong Disneyland and share new things about Hong Kong Disneyland.  This time in Hong Kong, we were booked in Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and it’s worth all the bucks that you pay to have a wonderful magical stay in the land of Disney and I will tell you soon why.

Hong Kong is just two hours flight away from the Philippines and I’m sure a lot of you folks will be heading off to Hong Kong Disneyland by summertime.  School is out and everyone’s is heading off to a lovely vacation.  If Hong Kong Disneyland is your choice, then it’s perfect timing especially if you go this year because they are celebrating their 5th year anniversary!

Anyway, here are a few snippets of our Hong Kong Disneyland trip.  This is just a teaser of more to come! Boy, oh boy… I have so much to share 🙂

The princesses Cinderella and Aurora were really sweet and they act in character all the time from their movements, to the way they look, their gestures and the way they say things.

Here’s a Flair tip for you guys:

This is one advantage of staying at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, characters come from time to time and not a lot of people know about this!  They usually come at around 10-11am in the lobby.  Do check the hotel information for their schedule.

“My goodness that’s a very big bow, it’s bigger than mine!  You should show it to Minnie” – Alice said to me when I approached her for a photo op 🙂

We had breakfast at the Enchanted Garden (to tell you more about this soon).  And Mickey Mouse was there!

Enchanted Garden is actually a restaurant located at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and they serve buffets.  Disney friends visit during breakfast or dinnertime and they will go to every table so that you can have photo ops!

I drew Daisy!  Now, this is something not a lot of people know they can do in Disneyland and I will share more details about how to draw Disney Characters soon!

For now, know that you can go to the Animation Academy along Mainstreet, U.S.A. in Hong Kong Disneyland to learn how to draw Disney characters!

This was a cool attraction in Tomorrowland -the interactive Stitch encounter.  While lining up, I made goofy faces imitating different kinds of Alien Monsters!

Notice something different on the castle? It’s glittering with gold isn’t it?

For this season, the Castle was decorated with Tinkerbell’s pixie dust!  They put this special decoration here to celebrate the 5^th Anniversary of Hong Kong Disneyland.

At 8pm, they usually light the castle and the sky with Fireworks that dance with the music.  The pixie dust adds more to the glitter and glamour!

And thanks to my uggs, walking around Disneyland was not so painful at all.  Reminding everyone to wear comfortable clothing and footwork if you want to fully enjoy Hong Kong Disneyland!

Aww… I feel pretty holding tinkerbell’s wand and wearing her garland.

There are shops everywhere and you can actually wear this around Hong Kong Disneyland while you’re touring around and take lots of photos!  These things would look cute on camera!

Don’t forget to say DISNEY!!!

Tinkerbell is one of my favorite Disney characters because she reminds me so much of myself.  The only difference is I love pink and she loves green 😛  This Pixie Hollow photo booth with Tinkerbell is only available in the 5^th Anniversary Celebration of Hong Kong Disneyland.

If you get hungry, munch on something.  They sell ice creams, waffles and popcorn everywhere!

Don’t forget to take lots of photos!

Oh, buy souvenirs too! Like I bought this hat for HKD100 I’m not sure about the exact amount but wear something cute like this throughout your Disneyland experience!  It will look good on your photos!

Walking on the hallways of Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel.  I admire the whole building!  Every detail, every corner and every little design has been well thought of.  I am sure to book here again if i go back!

I brought a tripod with me the whole day because I know it will be worth carrying when I want to take photos of the fireworks at night 🙂  I love capturing fireworks and catching them with the castle was a bit hard.. but patience is a virtue and I am very happy with my shots!

I cried while I was taking this photo… They start out with the song “Tale as old as time… (ten ne ne ne nen), true as it can be…”

and the fireworks and the harmonious Disney songs on the background gave me goosebumps and made me cry.  I was overwhelmed with joy that I exploded with both tears and laughter.

I maximized the trip and roamed around Hong Kong Disneyland resort for 2 days.  I tried every attraction there was, even the ones meant for kids.  I thought I would be bored and stuff, but hey – I was simply amazed.  Every ride brought out the child in me 🙂

They made their parade more special and they call it “Flights of Fantasy“

You shouldn’t miss this parade because this is your chance to see different Disney characters and this parade is exclusive only in Hong Kong Disneyland and you can’t see this in other Disneyland resorts.  This will be only available this year for their 5^th year anniversary.

Congratulations Hong Kong Disneyland!  It was indeed a great production!

After going around City Gate outlet at Tung Chung, we headed off to Tsim Sha Tsui to catch the light show at the Avenue of the Stars by 8pm.  We waited at Deck n’ Beer and drank a huge class of Hoegaarden 🙂

*no time to edit photos… taken as is! and I have a huge pimple on my nose… no time to photoshop!

When in Hong Kong, don’t forget to ride the bus and sit at the front row of the top deck (their buses are double deck – two levels).

It’s like a cheap way to tour Hong Kong at night.  The information desk at the airport was very helpful and they assisted us how to get to our hotel easily.  The moment I mentioned my hotel, they just printed out something and voiala – instructions on how to go to our hotel via bus was automatically printed out.

On the paper instruction said:

Island Pacific Hotel Review

This hotel is fab!  I booked it through Agoda.com early in July.  It cost around Php 16,000 per night, but I got the reservation at 70% off.  We only had to pay Php 3,000++ per night :)  When I saw the hotel at night, it amazed me.  It was so tall, and decorated with fantastic lights.

I originally booked a regular hotel room (facing the city).  I was so surprised and HAPPY that they upgraded my booking to a Deluxe Room – King size bed, top floor (25th) and overlooking the Victoria Harbor!!!  The view is amazing with the window glass from floor to ceiling!  I actually saw a big bird flying outside my window.  I was too late to grab my camera though. I would book here again if I come here to Hong Kong (again).  Most people on tripadvisor and other hotel review sites say that the hotel rooms are quite small and there is not enough space for closet and stuff.  While it might be true, it’s nt as very spacious as other hotels, it still (for me) is big enough for two people.

I noticed right away that our hotel is in the residential area.  People say it’s far from everywhere, but really, it’s just two stations away from Hong Kong Central Station.  The bus stop is very near our place and the tramway at a walkable distance too (around 50 meters away from the hotel).

On the streets near our hotel, you will find Mannings, Watson’s, 7/11, McDonald’s, Chinese restaurants and a mall beside our hotel!  Sweet!

Chinese Restaurants

Our area is quite residential and I don’t see a lot of tourists here.  I like it that way because this is how you will feel the locals with you around and you will see more of their culture.  I had an appreciation for staying in the residential area when I first stayed in a residential area in Singapore.  I really felt like I lived like one of them in 3 days.

Like I said, most people around this area are locals.  Therefore, the Chinese local restaurants are all in Chinese!  I still asked for an English menu and thank goodness they had one!  The translations are very simple though.  You will find, Rice with meat, Rice with salty fish and meat, rice with chicken and duck feet etc…

Their dimsum is very nice though! Both their siew mai (siomai) and char siew pao (asado siopao)

That’s about it for today.  Tomorrow, we’ll just go around Central and go to Victoria Peak 🙂 I love that it’s cold, not humid and not raining! I’m so excited to go out!

Last year, my Belle de Jour Planner had a coupon giving me a FREE Brazilian wax!  I was supposed to try it, but I chickened out.  I mean, I saw that part in Miss Congeniality where they stripped her off her own bush… Her scream was heard for miles lol.

So, I went to Lay Bare to try some of their services.  I got the eyebrow threading first because I usually have it done on salons.  For the waxing part, I tried the leg waxing first and ZOMG, virtually NO PAIN at all!  It felt just like they stuck a scotch tape on my leg then removed it.  It was nothing really.  Then, I decided to try to go all out and try the Brazilian waxing!

Before anything else, it is highly recommended not to take any caffeine before waxing because caffeine stimulates your nervous system.  Let’s just say I felt sleepy in the morning and I took a cup from Starbucks right before I went to Lay Bare.  The leg wax really did not hurt at all.  Not a pinch

So, there you go… I was ready to take the Brazilian…  It hurts more if you shave (and I do) so fml.  Can’t do anything about it.  I already committed to doing it so I was just like fark it, LET’S DO THIS!

I won’t lie and won’t say that it didn’t hurt for me.  It was okay in some areas, but there are a few areas where I had to hold my breath and gush out a faint *OUCH* haha… but, the pain is tolerable and the staff is really helpful in distracting pain.  I just chose the bare Brazilian (no design at all).  But, you can choose too from different designs like square, rectangle – even a heart!

But you know what, right after it, it felt really nice and smooth!  It’s a really nice feeling compared to shaving.  Shaving makes the skin more rough and the texture more rugged.  Taking the hair out from the roots is just plain awesome, and you’ll be hair free for 2 weeks I didn’t know I could feel as smooth as I was 20 years ago – JUST LIKE THAT!  It’s so neat and I love it!  I am already a fan and I picture myself coming back there every 6 weeks for the wax.  It’s so affordable too!  That’s why I’m so happy discovering this thing!  They do all hair stuff too like threading, underarm waxing and stuff like that Lay Bare uses cold wax and not those ones you see with patches and stuff that REALLLY STICK TO YOUR SKIN.  So do check out their website…

Initially, I was scheduled to Anchor at night (7-10pm).  But then, I went early (7am) ‘coz I was hyped with the elections already!

It’s heavy multitasking!

1. I needed to make sure my hair is not all over my face.

2. No face powder stains on my dress.

3. No lipstick on my teeth.

4. Read the prompter for instructions.

5. Look at the TV to know what’s airing

6. Listen to co-host and react to he says.

7. Look at camera crew to know which camera to look at.

8. Read which piece of information you would want to share.

9. Make sure you are saying the right things.

10. Make sure you are not shivering with nervousness on TV and just let out a casual smile!

I have done live broadcast shows (Tek Tok TV is live), but not about news and especially the elections!  It was a totally new experience to me!  It was more difficult than I thought.  Those news anchors on TV made it look so easy!

I had nooooooooooooooooooo idea!

I love make up!!!

About more than a month ago, I took make up lessons.  I am such a tomboy and I didn’t care much about makeup but then I realized that I need it… and now, I am loving and embracing it!

Vince has been telling me to video myself while doing makeup.  Eh? With all honesty, I have poor lighting at home and doing a video thingy while putting makeup would be useless… T__T

So, I just took a picture of my makeup today… I must admit, I am really loving it now!  Makeup brings out your best features.

Anyway… I am busy with more other things.  Trust me, for a jobless girl, I’m doing a lot of work.  Like yesterday night I slept at nearly 4am because I was trying to finish the website above and woke up at 6am to get ready for the TV show.

Eh?  I need to also put makeup on or else I would look like a panda on TV.

Anyway, I had fun today as I co-hosted with Vince for Tek Tok TV.  We are at our 6th episode and we invited Abe of yugatech.com (yes you know him, he’s an internet celebrity!!!) to talk about the iPad… is it worth it or not? and all other questions we had…

I had my hands on the iPad to tinker with for the first time… I was SOLD! nothing beats the experience ladies and gents… pretty amazing!  Although I would want to wait for the iPad with 3G and sim card.  It would be useless for me without the mobile internet function (here in the Philippines at least where we don’t have many WiFi free spots).

Also we invited over the team of Cubizone to give us more insight and views of the current gaming industry here in the Philippines and how some corporations could tap into this industry and match their respective products and brands.  It’s a totally different light in gaming.  Of course, common sense should guide your lives people.  Too much of anything is bad… too much of gaming is bad.  They also said that managing your time and being responsible is one sure way to live a more worry-free life.

Grammar Police

There has been a grammar police attacking my comments section.  Initially, I did not remove them.  But it gives me negativity that I just had to delete them.  I usually don’t delete comments.  Even comments from haters… but I just didn’t really want to bother much.

I bet he or she is reading this right now.

He/she has been complaining about my BAD GRAMMAR, my excessive usage of ellipses (…) and my green humor.  I wonder why he didn’t complain about my excessive usage of emoticons ^_^ XD … and my excessive usage of **faints**.

Anyway, read my About page and find that I usually don’t check my grammar or misspellings.  I write more creative and more entertaining when I free-write.  If I continue to edit, it disrupts my focus.  And, as much as I would love to edit my own writings and re-read and re-read my posts again and again I CAN’T because I don’t have the luxury of time.

I’d rather upload things ASAP than to meticulously and professionally check my blog posts before uploading them.  For my blog, TIME is of the essence and I choose time relevance.  You know how it works online – what may be relevant in this second could be irrelevant in the next hour.

This is a Personal blog… not a newspaper publication.  I don’t have a boss… I am my own boss, so if you’re bothered with my grammar, feel free to comment.  I’d glad to look it out and edit.  If I see some misspellings and grammatically erroneous sentence construction then I edit it.

I also write for other online publications and magazine articles but with this I do check my grammar and have someone four-eye it for me.

For now… I’m writing as usual ^_^

Priorities

I had to reject some events and some travelling due fatigue and sickness.  I got sick last weekend and although I recovered quickly, I just rested at home or else I know my body would give up.  I always prioritize health.  It’s my wealth.  Seriously.

A year ago, I went to Hong Kong for the first time… Did a lot of stuff there, but haven’t blogged about it nor uploaded photos on my flickr.  SHAME ON ME!

Also last year I went to Malaysia to meet my Malaysian friends… and went to Singapore for F1 2009 coverage and back to Singapore again for Nuffnang blog awards.  Although I made at least one blog post of these events… I have yet so much to write and blog about!!!

We missed the Press Conference though as they really started on time!  WOW!  But, we didn’t miss the fun and the party.  We stayed for a while at The Lounge and mingled with people.  I love the hip-hop music being played! Also, the music is not so loud and it allowed people to talk without shouting.

I was in the mood to dance really… the music was just awesome… but… there was no dance floor, and no one was dancing so I shied out… 😛

Today is just the perfect day for a colorful adventure!  It’s Valentine’s day and Chinese New Year at the same time!  To add up to the flavour,  The last day of the 15th Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival 2010 happens today!

Vince and I packed our gears at around 2am.  We have to thank Sony for lending us a very powerful video camera – the Sony Handycam HDR-XR520, and Marquee Mall /Ayala Malls for the Passes!

I drove from the house to Clark while the monkey sleeps… (‘coz I know it’s harder to drive on our way back home kekeke)… It took us only about an hour and a half (including Restroom breaks and snacks).  No traffic at this time!  We arrived at the grounds at 4:30.  We got hungry again so we ate at the kiosks around… The sun wasn’t still up and the whole area is still covered with a black blanket at some glittery stars.

Then, we heard the song “?!?!?” — I forgot what… but I liked the song and it kinda signaled that the balloons are being prepared for flight!  Off we went and take pictures!  I don’t know how to estimate as to how many people were there but It filled the area!

There was a complete list of activities for the day… but I think, our lack of sleep yesterday made it hard for us to keep going.  I would have wanted to see the fireworks as well at night… but we figured… we really were getting restless and tired so we decided to go home instead.  I slept for a few minutes… then I heard the monki slapping himself (lol) He was way to SLEEPY!  We needed to pitstop at a gas station at got our coffees from Gloria Jeans.
